bone-white moon shaking down
the deadwood treetops, singing
out the heart-dark sky
and the cold glass star shards trembling
with light–
shiver and shake,
shiver and shake,
until twilight’s promise is loosed
into the thorny, wind-straggling branches
on the mirror-side of dawn
